Copeland Unveils Sensi Equipment Interface Module to Simplify HVAC Wiring

Copeland has introduced the Sensi Equipment Interface Module (EIM) at the AHR Expo, addressing a common challenge for HVAC contractors - wiring upgrades during system installations. Designed for both indoor and outdoor use, the new module simplifies thermostat wiring without requiring additional wires, making it easier to upgrade to heat pump systems or integrate indoor air quality (IAQ) products.

When paired with the Sensi Touch 2 smart thermostat, the Sensi EIM eliminates the need for pulling new wires during system upgrades. This is particularly valuable in residential or light commercial applications where older systems lack sufficient wiring to power and control modern equipment. According to Copeland, the Sensi EIM provides a streamlined solution with dedicated wire channels that secure and organize connections, eliminating the need for a separate gateway to connect to Wi-Fi.

The Sensi EIM also offers flexibility for controlling IAQ accessories. With three universal terminals, the module supports humidification, dehumidification, and ventilation equipment, and it is compatible with IAQ products from other major manufacturers.

“As consumers add sustainable solutions to their home - like heat pumps, IAQ products, and smart thermostats - the new Sensi EIM helps contractors simplify the process, while allowing the thermostat to do more with the system,” said Tom Lorenz, director of product management for Sensi at Copeland.

Durable Design and Versatile Connectivity

Built for both indoor and outdoor environments, the Sensi EIM is durable and waterproof, reducing the number of products contractors need to carry for various applications. Sensi Connect technology ensures reliable communication between devices using a wireless sub-GHz connection, which enhances system performance without the need for extensive wiring.

The module is part of Copeland’s free contractor branding program, allowing contractors to personalize the Sensi EIM with their company logo, phone number, and website - providing a lasting reminder for future service calls.

In addition to the Sensi EIM, Copeland is launching outdoor sensors designed to help heat pumps receive precise readings of outdoor temperature and humidity. These sensors optimize heat pump performance by enabling balance point and auxiliary lockout control when paired with the Sensi Touch 2 thermostat.
