Daikin introduces Vertical DX air handling units for VRV and ERA systems

Daikin has launched the Vertical DX series, a new plug-and-play, floor-standing air handling unit (AHU) for direct expansion (DX) systems, designed for integration with Daikin VRV or ERA condensing units.

The Vertical DX AHU is intended for large indoor spaces such as sports halls, logistics warehouses, distribution centres, and multipurpose halls, where variable occupancy and high airflow rates require decentralised and energy-efficient ventilation solutions. Designed for indoor installation, the unit supports decentralised air distribution with minimal pressure losses and simplified ductwork, making it suitable for both new buildings and retrofit projects.

The unit offers three grille configurations—front, side, or top—allowing it to adapt to various air distribution requirements. It can be installed with or without ductwork and features flexible connection points on either side. A factory-installed DX kit enables direct refrigerant circulation, eliminating the need for an intermediate water circuit and enhancing overall efficiency and compactness.

Combined with Daikin VRV or ERA outdoor units, the Vertical DX AHU delivers year-round energy-efficient performance. It adjusts automatically to variable thermal loads and supports scalable configurations via Z Control technology, which allows multiple indoor units to connect to a single outdoor unit. The system includes a return air temperature sensor and offers compatibility with the BRC1H remote controller and centralised control systems.

The unit is compatible with low-GWP refrigerants such as R-32 and supports decarbonisation goals by enabling high-efficiency DX systems in decentralised applications. Delivered fully pre-assembled and factory-wired, the Vertical DX unit offers a quick plug-and-play installation with minimal on-site work.

Daikin’s wider AHU portfolio includes the Professional Unit for industrial applications and the Compact series—Compact L, R, and T—each developed to meet specific installation needs and airflow capacities.
