Daikin has unveiled its Smart Control System (SCS), a plug-and-play solution for optimizing the performance of hydronic HVAC systems. The system will be available starting January 2025.
Daikin’s Smart Control System (SCS) is designed to manage chillers, heat pumps, air handling units, and fan coils, targeting comfort applications such as offices, light commercial spaces, and small-to-medium hotels. By optimizing system operations, SCS aims to reduce lifecycle costs and carbon emissions, addressing both environmental and economic considerations.
SCS incorporates advanced algorithms like Smart Defrosting and Advanced Staging, enhancing reliability and extending the lifespan of HVAC systems. The plug-and-play system requires minimal setup, connecting units via Modbus protocol and using built-in sensors to streamline installation and operation.
The SCS is offered in three scalable configurations: Light, Medium, and Full, each tailored to varying project sizes and complexities. It supports up to 4 chillers or heat pumps with a cooling capacity of 500 kW, managing additional equipment like fan coils and air handling units based on the configuration:
Each zone can manage up to 30 fan coils through a dedicated Daikin-developed controller.
SCS supports a range of Daikin products:
Daikin highlights the cost-effectiveness of SCS compared to third-party systems, as it minimizes the need for additional sensors and configuration. Installation can be completed during commissioning by a Daikin technician, further simplifying implementation.
With its scalable configurations and focus on total lifecycle performance, the Smart Control System offers a versatile and efficient solution for HVAC plant management.
