Daikin presented a new range of air-cooled scroll chillers featuring refrigerant R-32

Daikin has is releasing a new range of air-cooled scroll chillers featuring refrigerant R-32. This new series is the second generation of Daikin R-32 chillers, a range of products that set a new standard for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in the HVAC industry in 2018 when they were first launched. The new Series is now available in both standard cooling only version (EWAT-B-C) and hydronic free cooling version (EWFT-B-C).

This new offering from Daikin boasts improved energy efficiency, both at partial and full loads, with EER reaching up to 3.3 and SEER reaching up to 5.5. Additionally, the new chillers have an extended operating range with chilled water temperatures reaching up to 30°C, and a wider range of capacity options – from 252 kW to 1012 kW.

The use of R-32 refrigerant in these chillers allows for a significant reduction in environmental impact, as it has a much lower global warming potential than traditional refrigerants and can be reclaimed and recycled, avoiding emissions from refrigerant distruction.

The extended operating range and the wider range of capacities available make this new Series suitable for a variety of applications, from large commercial buildings to industrial facilities and data centers, which can benefit from the hydronic free cooling version.

Overall, the new range of Daikin air-cooled scroll chillers with R-32 refrigerant offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution for a wide range of building cooling needs.

The hydronic free cooling version of this Series, though, makes this Series especially relevant for Data Center projects.

The hydronic free cooling units will ensure greater energy savings by taking advantage from outdoor favorable temperatures further reducing the need for electrical power, which is a key aspect for building that consume vast amounts of energy as data centers.

The second generation of Daikin R-32 chillers takes Daikin’s leadership in the design and development of R-32 products to another level.
