Daikin is taking a leap forward in innovation by launching the Daikin Altherma 3 M, its first monobloc heat pump of the third generation. The Daikin Altherma 3 M ‘s compact dimensions and design improvements are surprising. This monobloc heat pump uses R-32 refrigerant, which offers higher performances and energy efficiency, while reducing CO2 emissions. In line with its innovative solutions, the Daikin Altherma 3 M heat pump can be controlled remotely via the recently updated Daikin Residential Controller App with voice assistant feature to provide an ever-increasing user comfort.
Compact improved design
Consumers will appreciate its compact and improved design, as the Daikin Altherma 3 M is capable of blending into different types of homes, in renovations and large new buildings. Indeed, its monobloc set-up requires only an outdoor unit that can perfectly fit under a window. This is because it has only one fan, while its predecessor needed two fans.
In addition to its architectural adaptation, some design changes help the unit blend into any environment: a black horizontal front grille hiding the single fan and the light grey casing, which reflects the installation space. Last but not least, the monobloc is easy to install: as a single unit, it includes most wiring and requires water connections to the inside of the house.
Implementing R-32 to contribute to carbon footprint reduction
Daikin has not only made the Daikin Altherma 3 M heat pump more convenient for consumers, but also more environmentally friendly. Indeed, in addition to being more compact, Daikin's innovation uses the more energy efficient R-32 refrigerant.
Practically, the R-32 refrigerant reduces the environmental impact of the heat pump by 75% and needs 30% less refrigerant charge compared to the R410-A, previously used by its predecessor. Moreover, with a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), it achieves higher energy efficiency and lower CO2 emissions. The R-32 refrigerant will help to accelerate the much-needed transition to renewable heating solutions since it is a mono-component refrigerant, which means its recycling and its reuse are also facilitated, which constitutes an additional ecological advantage.
“We decided to deploy the R-32 refrigerant in our new Daikin Altherma 3 M heat pump because we know its benefit for the environment. We are a pioneer in launching heat pumps equipped with R-32, but this is the first monobloc equipped with this refrigerant. R-32 is the perfect solution for attaining the new European CO2 emission targets. Together with its innovative compact size, this heat pump can easily be installed in every European home,” says Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating and Renewables at Daikin.
100% connected, ever easier
In order to make its use more fluid, easy and effective, the Daikin Altherma 3 M is also connected to the updated version of the Daikin Residential Controller app. Thanks to the app, users can manage their heating and cooling systems from their smartphone at home or remotely. The app includes intuitive functions such as a scheduling program to schedule temperature and operation mode, a tailor-made control function to control all heating and/or cooling units and a monitoring feature for a clear overview of performance and energy consumption. To top it all off, the renewed version of the app has a voice control feature with assistants such as Amazon Alexa.
Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating and Renewables at Daikin Europe: “Daikin proves again that we are part of your connected home. Thanks to the voice control feature of the Daikin Residential Controller app, we confirm again our promise to offer great design and user experience. It is easy, user-friendly, and fast. The app is part of the end-to-end solution we want to offer our customers: heating, cooling, ventilation, energy optimization and controls”.
