Danfoss has expanded its CO2 condensing unit portfolio with the Optyma iCO2 37kW MT/20kW LT, a unit for medium- and low-temperature commercial refrigeration applications. The company says the unit uses low-GWP refrigerant R744 and is designed to deliver reliable performance across a wide operating range with low energy consumption.
The unit uses a two-stage compression system combining scroll and rotary technologies. According to Danfoss, it operates from -20°C (-4°F) to +37°C (98.6°F) ambient temperature without additional system features. It also includes a plug-and-play concept with a preset unit module controller for cold room applications to simplify installation and commissioning.
Danfoss said the condensing unit is equipped with brushless two-stage compressors and integrated subcooling technology to optimize energy performance and reduce operational costs. The company said the unit maintains cooling capacity in high ambient conditions and targets applications including hotels, restaurants and catering facilities, 16 cold rooms and display cabinet systems, and supermarkets and convenience stores.
For acoustics, Danfoss lists a sound pressure level of 62 dB(A) at 10 m (32.8 ft) and sound power levels of 73 LT and 72 MT. The company also says the unit is qualified and certified under PED Category III.
With the new 37kW MT/20kW LT model, Danfoss said it is expanding its offer for larger-capacity applications with a focus on ease of installation, low energy consumption and long-term reliability.
