As part of its commitment to developing climate-friendly solutions, Danfoss has expanded its brazed plate heat exchanger portfolio with new products specifically designed for propane (R290) heat pumps. These innovations feature the advanced Micro Plate™ technology, enabling higher heat transfer efficiency and reduced refrigerant charge.

Responding to the Demand for Natural Refrigerants

In light of global regulations limiting the use of F-gas refrigerants, Danfoss has introduced three cutting-edge brazed plate heat exchangers that are optimized for R290 refrigerant. The new range includes the H39L-EZU evaporator, H62L-CZ condenser, and the HDW30-C/HDW44-C double-wall heat exchangers, all designed to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in both residential and light commercial heat pump systems.

Product Range and Features

H39L-EZU Evaporator The H39L-EZU is designed to operate efficiently as either an evaporator or condenser in reversible heat pump systems. With a unique mixing chamber and superheating regions, it ensures optimal refrigerant distribution and superior performance, even at partial loads.

    • Material: AISI 304L cover, AISI 316L plates
    • Brazing material: Copper
    • Temperature range: -196°C to 200°C
    • Max. working pressure: 49 bar (refrigerant side), 25 bar (water side)
    • Capacity: 5-15 kW

H62L-CZ Condenser Optimized for R290 applications, the H62L-CZ condenser features an asymmetric plate design that minimizes material use while enhancing heat transfer and reducing water-side pressure loss.

    • Material: AISI 304L cover, AISI 316L plates
    • Brazing material: Copper
    • Temperature range: -196°C to 200°C
    • Max. working pressure: 49 bar (refrigerant side), 25 bar (water side)
    • Capacity: 20-70 kW

HDW30-C/HDW44-C Double-Wall Heat Exchanger The HDW30-C and HDW44-C are designed to prevent cross-contamination in systems where liquids must not mix. Ideal for condenser or desuperheater applications, these double-wall heat exchangers provide safe and reliable operation for hot water systems.

    • Material: AISI 304L cover, AISI 316Ti plates
    • Brazing material: Copper
    • Temperature range: -196°C to 200°C
    • Max. working pressure: 35 bar (refrigerant side), 16 bar (water side)
    • Capacity: 3-15 kW
