Danfoss launches iC7-HVACR drive for intelligent HVACR systems

Danfoss has introduced the iC7-HVACR, a premium variable frequency drive designed for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The drive is intended for applications including data centers, smart buildings, clean rooms, hospitals, and other sensitive facilities.

The iC7-HVACR portfolio includes an ultra-low harmonic variant aimed at reducing harmonic distortion. According to Danfoss, the design supports grid compliance, reduces energy losses, and helps protect sensitive electronics and other critical assets from poor power quality.

The drive integrates advanced intelligence for HVAC and refrigeration performance. Its increased computing power allows it to operate as both a sensor hub and controller, reducing the need for external PLCs and providing real-time data to a Building Management System.

Danfoss also highlights cybersecurity features in the iC7-HVACR, including an integrated hardware cryptochip to help protect the drive against unauthorized access. The company positions this feature for connected systems and critical infrastructure.

Additional features include an intuitive control panel, quick power cable connections, integration with various HVACR equipment, and global support through DrivePro services. Danfoss says the iC7-HVACR is approximately 20% more compact than the next-best alternative, supporting use in new builds and retrofits.
