Frascold validates new electrical box for CO2 compressors

Frascold has validated a new electrical box for S-size compressors in its Heavy Duty Transcritical CO2 and Subcritical CO2 series. The update is designed to improve cable management, installation accessibility, and protection against water and dust, while remaining fully interchangeable with existing configurations.

The new box increases the available internal space for more organized wiring with 6-PIN plates and the new 9-PIN plates. The 9-PIN version supports motors with a 9-conductor winding, enabling multiple connection schemes on the same compressor, including direct-on-line starting at DOL 230v/3ph/60Hz or 460v/3ph/60Hz, and Part Winding Start at PWS 230v/3ph/60Hz.

The box is certified with an IP66 protection rating, providing dust-tightness and resistance to high-pressure water jets from any direction. Frascold says this supports reliability under demanding operating conditions.

Compared with the previous version, the new electrical box includes pre-arranged holes for access and cable routing to simplify installation and reduce wiring time. A dedicated terminal board for auxiliary wiring has also been integrated to improve the organization, safety, and management of internal connections.

The new box uses the same mounting points as the previous version and requires no modifications to the compressor or existing mounting interfaces. It is available for both UL-certified compressor versions and non-UL versions.
