Friga-Bohn has introduced the Nova range of cubic cooling units, designed to replace its existing 3C-A series in commercial and semi-industrial refrigeration systems. The new line offers enhanced energy efficiency, broader refrigerant compatibility, and simplified installation—underscoring the brand’s strategy to modernize its product portfolio.
Product Overview
The Nova evaporators retain the same dimensional footprint as the outgoing 3C-A models but integrate larger-diameter fans for improved airflow and cooling capacity. Available with cooling capacities from 1 to 30 kW (approx. 3,412 to 102,364 BTU/h), the units are compatible with HFCs, A2L blends, natural CO2, and glycol water systems.
A key improvement is the fully redesigned defrost system, which reduces power consumption by up to 30%. Enhancements include angled resistors for targeted defrosting of the expansion valve, distributor, and manifold. New W/m² heat exchanger distribution ensures more even defrosting and minimizes vaporization effects. Increased blade-to-shroud distance helps mitigate icing risks in low-temperature environments.
Efficiency and Installation Features
The Nova series also incorporates optimized coil designs, high-efficiency motors, and optional EC motor configurations to support energy-saving goals. For easier installation and maintenance, the units feature improved access to electrical components, Wago terminal blocks, and clear cable identification.
“Launching the Nova series of cubic cooling units reinforces our promise to set even higher benchmarks in refrigeration solutions and build the future of this important technology area upon core ethics that include accountability, trust, integrity, innovation and care,” said Alexandre Donegatti, Sales Director. “With Nova’s improved performance, efficiency and ease of installation, the rejuvenated Friga-Bohn brand continues to deliver new standards in commercial and industrial cooling solutions that match the needs of tomorrow.”
