Midea launches Raynor heat pump for Nordic winter conditions

Midea has introduced Raynor, a new air-to-air heat pump designed for extreme Nordic climates. Launched at IFA 2025 in Berlin, the unit is engineered to provide reliable heating in temperatures as low as -40°C, with full performance maintained down to -25°C.

Raynor features a maximum heating capacity of 8 kW, allowing most homes in the region to be heated with a single indoor unit. It holds an A+++ energy efficiency rating and a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of 5.1. Midea reports that its AI-based ECOMASTER function can reduce energy consumption by more than 30%.

The unit supports 180° vertical air deflection for improved heat distribution and includes a fireplace mode to circulate heat from stoves. A silent mode is also available for noise-sensitive environments. The design integrates light colors and rounded shapes to blend into Nordic interiors.

Raynor also includes features to improve indoor air quality, such as the "air magic+" function that targets airborne bacteria and viruses. A deep self-cleaning mode heats the heat exchanger to 56°C for 30 minutes, eliminating up to 99.9% of bacteria after two cycles.

The outdoor unit is built with corrosion-resistant fins made from Prime Guard Hyper Grapfins, ceramic ball bearings, and a heated base plate, and has passed 1500 hours of salt spray testing. The compressor uses high magnetic energy technology for enhanced durability.

Midea plans to launch Raynor in December 2025 as part of its "local for local" strategy for regionalized product development.
