Trane launches high-temperature water-source heat pump for industrial use

Trane has introduced the RTWF HT, a high-temperature water-to-water heat pump designed for industrial heating and cooling applications. Built on the company’s XStream platform, the unit delivers hot water up to 105°C and heating capacities up to 1.5 MW, offering a solution for sectors seeking to reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The new model follows the launch of Trane’s City RTSF HT and expands the company’s portfolio of heat pump systems. Designed for medium to high-temperature operations, the RTWF HT aims to support industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals in decarbonising their process heating systems. It also targets applications in district heating and waste heat recovery.

The unit features Trane’s proprietary screw compressor, the Symbio 800 controller, and uses the A1-classified refrigerant R1233zd(E), which has near-zero Global Warming Potential (GWP). Trane offers six standard models, providing scalable options for various industrial needs.

With a coefficient of performance (COP) of 5.0, the RTWF HT is positioned as a cost-effective alternative to fossil fuel-based boilers. The unit is manufactured in Trane’s European facility and supported by its service network across EMEA and Australia and New Zealand.

“Our customers are increasingly seeking reliable, efficient alternatives to fossil-fuel based heat sources as they pursue their decarbonisation targets, supported by strong regulatory momentum,” said Erik Van Oossanen, Product Management Leader at Trane. “With the introduction of RTWF HT, Trane is poised to accelerate the deployment of heat pump technology into the industrial sector.”
