Mitsubishi Electric has introduced its new City Multi R32 YXM series of VRF air conditioning systems, offering enhanced energy performance and reduced environmental impact for commercial buildings. The new range includes both Heat Pump and Heat Recovery versions, with capacities from 12kW to 112kW.
According to the company, the City Multi R32 YXM delivers a 20% reduction in running costs and operational carbon, and a 10% improvement in energy efficiency compared to previous models, based on a 30kW outdoor unit. The system also features outdoor units with a 6% smaller footprint, aimed at simplifying installation in space-constrained locations.
The re-engineered design includes a patented vertical flat tube heat exchanger, new defrost technology, and low-level leak detectors with a 30-year lifespan, compliant with BS EN 378. The system supports up to 50 indoor units per outdoor unit, offering scalability for a wide range of commercial applications.
Using Mitsubishi Electric’s patented 2-pipe design and R32 refrigerant, the system reduces refrigerant volume and installation complexity. It also incorporates next-generation compressors and heat exchangers to enhance energy efficiency and reliability.
A built-in Sensor and Alarm Kit includes a dedicated power supply, with audible and visual alerts in case of leaks. Only the affected indoor unit shuts down, while others continue operating. The system’s centralised controller enables building-wide management, remote access, and integration with building management systems.
“We’ve worked closely with our factories to deliver a high-quality product range that’s competitively priced and full of all the design features and flexibility that has made City Multi the market-leading VRF system,” said Jobin Varghese, VRF Technical Product Manager at Mitsubishi Electric.
The City Multi R32 YXM range will be available for installation from spring 2026.
