MSA Safety, Inc. has introduced the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector at the 2025 National Safety Congress & Expo in Denver, Colorado. The new detector expands the company’s Connected Work Platform and is designed for confined space monitoring and sampling applications.
The ALTAIR io 6 is MSA’s first six-gas detector with cellular connectivity and an integrated pump. It features MSA’s XCell sensors, a large, high-visibility display, a removable rechargeable external battery, and a compact form factor suitable for handheld use or wearable operation.
The device complements the existing ALTAIR io 4 Gas Detection Wearable on the same platform. While the ALTAIR io 4 is intended for continuous personal monitoring, the io 6 is tailored for pre-entry or on-site space sampling. Both detectors are used in industries such as construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities.
With a shared user interface and MSA Grid software, both devices allow streamlined integration into gas detection fleets. MSA Grid enables real-time device location tracking and alert notifications, along with centralized access to monitoring data. The ALTAIR io 6 will be available for order later in 2025.
"We're focused on helping to solve our customers' safety challenges by developing solutions that enhance protection, compliance and efficiency," said Stephanie Sciullo, President of MSA Americas.
