Panasonic Introduces High Efficiency ECOi-EX MF3 Series

Panasonic is changing the game for commercial heating and cooling with the launch of its new 3-pipe ECOi-EX MF3 series. With outstanding efficiency even in extreme ambient temperatures, a high SEER/SCOP at full load capacity plus an increase in piping length and the number of connectable indoor units, the ECOi-EX MF3 sets a powerful new standard in VRF system performance and project design flexibility.

In comparison with the MF2 series, the Panasonic MF3 steps-up efficiency with an improved SEER rating of 7.05 (28kW model) and SCOP rating of 4.85 (22.4kW model), the SEER/SCOP values follows EU Commission Regulation 2016/2281 (LOT21). Panasonic has also redesigned the heat exchanger, which has advanced from a dual-surface to a more efficient triple-surface construction to optimise and improve thermal transfer. Combined with an effective piping pattern, the heat exchanger energy performance has increased by 5%, providing a more cost-effective solution for commercial buildings.

The ECOi-EX MF3 system can provide hot water at temperatures up to 65°C. The system works by recovering waste heat from indoor units in cooling operation, and connecting to a purpose-built hot water cylinder, making it an ideal energy-saving solution for hotels and apartment blocks where hot water is in high demand.

Seasonal performance is another key feature for the ECOi MF3, which delivers high reliability even during extreme outdoor temperatures. For example, the ECOi MF3 can provide 100% cooling capacity at an ambient temperature of 43°C and continue to cool, even when the outside temperature reaches a maximum of 52°C.

Ergonomically designed, the ECOi MF3 range now provides more installation flexibility. The solution consists of a slim heat recovery box, measuring only 200mm high, making it easier to install in areas of limited ceiling space. In addition, performance is guaranteed at an extended piping length of up to 200m between indoor and outdoor units, meaning the ECOi MF3 is suitable for installation in a wider variety of buildings, including airports, train stations, schools or hospitals where units need to be spaced further apart. To further increase installation options, the ECOi MF3 offers an increase in the number of indoor connectable units compared to previous models. This is particularly beneficial for offices and hotels with multiple rooms, to maximise comfort whilst ensuring excellent energy efficiency.

A new curved bell-mouth design improves aerodynamics to ensure a smoother air flow, which has dramatically reduced noise levels. Air resistance has also been reduced with a larger air discharge area and flat fan guard, to further minimise noise levels for a more peaceful environment.

The ECOi-EX MF3 brings an energy-efficient solution to the market that can create a better environment whilst saving money. For commercial applications it is a real game-changer that takes quality to the extreme, delivering on performance, efficiency, design and comfort, for a powerful solution that will benefit businesses on multiple levels.
