Rheem Adds High-Efficiency 3–5 Ton Units to Renaissance Rooftop Line

New models feature dual-stage cooling, hot gas reheat, and simplified serviceabilityю

Rheem has expanded its Renaissance rooftop line with new 3–5 ton G/E and A/C models featuring two-stage cooling, engineered to meet the demands of modern commercial HVAC applications. Designed for efficient replacements, the new RACCYC and RGECYC units offer enhanced energy performance, intuitive design, and faster installation—particularly benefiting facilities like K–12 schools.

With cooling efficiency ratings up to 16.2 SEER2 and 12 EER2, the new models incorporate Rheem’s PlusOne HumidiDry hot gas reheat system. This feature enables continuous dehumidification while maintaining target temperatures, even in single-phase power configurations, which can help lower operating costs and improve occupant comfort.

Product Overview

Key specifications and features of the new Renaissance models include:

  • PlusOne HumidiDry: Hot gas reheat with variable frequency drive (VFD) enhances part-load efficiency and comfort.

  • PlusOne ServiceSmart: Technician-informed layout and component access streamline maintenance.

  • Qwik-change flex-fit rack: Supports MERV 8 or MERV 13 filters up to 4 in (101.6 mm), improving indoor air quality.

  • Qwik-Slide Blower: Tool-less removal for simplified servicing of the blower assembly.

  • Qwik-Clean Drain Pan: Full-slide composite pan with standard overflow sensor for easy cleaning.

  • PlusOne Velocifin Heat Exchanger: Redesigned tubing improves heat transfer and overall system efficiency.

  • Full MicroChannel Coils: Enhances reliability, reduces refrigerant charge, and facilitates service.

The units use industry-standard footprints, common piping and electrical connections, and are field-convertible for multiple airflow configurations. Reduced weight and built-in service features allow for up to 100 minutes in time savings on standard service tasks compared to competitive models.

Warranty and Availability

Rheem offers a one-year limited parts warranty, a five-year compressor warranty, a 10-year standard heat exchanger warranty, and a 20-year stainless steel heat exchanger warranty for gas/electric units. The products are available now through local Rheem distributors in the U.S. and may qualify for regional energy incentives.

"With efficiency ratings up to 16.2 SEER2 and 12 EER2, this extension delivers better performance and is a great fit for a variety of commercial applications, especially K–12 school buildings," said Laura Meyerrose, commercial product manager, Rheem. "Additionally, the availability of Rheem's PlusOne HumidiDry hot gas reheat technology that can keep the desired room temperature while continuing to dehumidify in single-phase power models can lead to cost savings while increasing occupant comfort for businesses and separates Rheem from competitors."
