Rheem and ecobee announced a partnership to launch the ecobee Smart Thermostat Lite | Works with EcoNet Technology, expanding Rheem’s smart thermostat lineup with a simplified option designed for 24-Volt installations. The companies said the thermostat is intended to deliver energy savings, compatibility with EcoNet Technology, and convenience for homeowners and contractors.
According to Rheem, the thermostat includes configuration options aimed at simplifying installation, and it supports full accessory control for a one-wire HVAC accessory such as a humidifier, dehumidifier, or ventilator. The companies also said it can integrate with ecobee accessories, including SmartSensor room sensors.
Rheem and ecobee said contractors can use the Rheem Contractor app and QR codes to register the system and warranty in minutes, and that contractor contact information can be added on the ecobee thermostat. The product is ENERGY STAR certified, with claimed savings of up to 23% on heating and cooling costs annually and potential savings of up to $250 per year.
The thermostat is also listed as compatible with Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Alarm.com, and includes features such as eco+ and eco-friendly packaging. Rheem said it is designed to work with non-communicating residential heating and cooling systems from Rheem brands including Rheem, Ruud, and Friedrich; a compatibility list is available at rheem.com/ecobeelite.
Rheem said its EcoNet infrastructure connects physical and digital products within a single ecosystem, including mobile applications and a new digital platform, TotalView, which will be available to Pro Partners for near-real-time monitoring and configuration of EcoNet-connected products with Internet access. “Rheem's collaboration with ecobee exemplifies our commitment to innovative, sustainable heating and cooling solutions,” said Alex Housten, chief operating officer, Rheem Manufacturing Company. The ecobee Smart Thermostat Lite | Works with EcoNet Technology is available now through authorized Rheem, Ruud, and Friedrich distributors across the U.S. and Canada.
