Rheem introduces dual fuel packaged system for residential use in the US

Rheem has expanded its Endeavor product line with the launch of the Classic Plus Series iR Residential Packaged Dual Fuel Units (RDFXYC), combining a heat pump and gas furnace into a single unit. The new system is designed to enhance year-round comfort and energy efficiency for homeowners while offering improved serviceability for contractors.

Available in 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-ton models with single- and three-phase options, the RDFXYC delivers cooling efficiencies up to 15.2 SEER2 and heating efficiencies of 7.2 HSPF2. During colder conditions, the unit switches automatically to two-stage gas heating, featuring an AFUE rating of 81%. Homeowners can set a specific outdoor temperature threshold for this switch.

Key features include Rheem’s EcoNet connectivity, allowing users to control settings remotely. Contractors benefit from Bluetooth diagnostics, which streamline setup and service without opening panels. The system integrates with smart home platforms and standard 24V thermostats.

Additional technical highlights include constant volume motor operation for reduced sound levels, variable speed technology for better humidity control, and microchannel coils that lower refrigerant use by 50%. A compact cabinet design supports easier rooftop installations and maintenance.

The 2-ton model functions as a two-stage northern heat pump, delivering up to 40% more heating capacity and an average of five degrees warmer air compared to standard heat pumps.

The RDFXYC units come with a 10-year compressor warranty, a 10-year conditional parts warranty upon registration, and a limited lifetime stainless steel heat exchanger warranty for residential installations.

"The RDFXYC is built to provide homeowners with consistent comfort and long-term value while giving contractors a more accessible and serviceable solution," said Jeff Goss, director of residential product management at Rheem.
