Rhoss Launches UniPACK-PI R290 Heat Pumps and Chillers

New range offers reversible operation, high seasonal performance, and low-GWP refrigerant R290.

Rhoss has introduced the new UniPACK-PI series of reversible heat pumps and chillers, expanding its portfolio of sustainable HVAC solutions. The new range uses R290 (propane), a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential (GWP) of 0.02 (AR6), supporting Rhoss’s strategy toward low environmental impact systems.

Designed for both new installations and retrofits, the UniPACK-PI units can replace traditional gas boiler systems entirely or partially. Available in seven sizes and two configurations—T (high efficiency) and Q (supersilenced)—the range offers cooling capacities from approximately 75 to 150 kW.

Product Overview

The UniPACK-PI units incorporate ON/OFF and inverter scroll compressors and feature 1, 2, or 3 compressors with single or dual refrigerant circuits depending on the model. Safety measures for working with R290 include integrated leak detectors, a dedicated ventilation system, and coil protection nets.

Seasonal efficiency is a key strength of the new line, with SCOPs reaching up to 4.37 for low-temperature applications and SEERs up to 5.17 in chiller mode. Operating flexibility is also emphasized: the units can produce hot water up to 78°C and maintain 65°C output even at outdoor temperatures as low as -15°C. Chilled water production is supported across a wide temperature range—from -10°C to 20°C—with outdoor air temperatures up to 50°C.

Control and Accessories

The UniPACK-PI includes the SIR (Sequencer Integrated by Rhoss), which manages domestic hot water production in sequence, and VPF_R, Rhoss's proprietary Variable Primary Flow technology. The product line is also compatible with a broad set of accessories, including tanks, integrated pumps for plug-and-play installation, and solutions for partial or total heat recovery.

“With the UniPACK-PI range, Rhoss strengthens its commitment to delivering sustainable, high-efficiency technologies, playing an active role in the energy transition of the HVAC sector,” the company stated.
