SWEP Offers CO2-Reduced Steel Option for Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers

SWEP has introduced a CO2-reduced steel option for its brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs), targeting customers seeking to lower the carbon footprint of their heating and heat transfer systems.

The new material choice, now available in the European market, applies to select BPHE ranges commonly used in residential and commercial applications. SWEP sources this steel from suppliers that reduce emissions through renewable and low-carbon energy, streamlined processing, and high recycled content. Despite the change in material, SWEP confirms the heat exchangers maintain their established performance and quality standards.

Customers selecting the CO₂-reduced steel option also receive ISO 14067-verified carbon footprint calculations for the specific product type. These can be integrated into broader environmental assessments of the customer’s systems.

"The introduction of CO₂-reduced steel reflects SWEP's commitment to sustainability and aligns with global efforts to mitigate climate change impacts," said Ulrika Nordqvist, SWEP President. "We see this as an important new capability, not only for driving our own sustainability efforts, but also for supporting customer aspirations to minimize the carbon footprint of their value chain."

SWEP plans to expand the use of CO₂-reduced materials across its operations, positioning the initiative as part of a broader push toward environmentally responsible manufacturing.
