TCUK developed a skid-mounted version of its high performance Floway Air Handling Unit

Toshiba Carrier UK Ltd (TCUK) has developed a skid-mounted version of its high performance Floway Air Handling Unit (AHU) and direct expansion (DX) condenser package that saves customers even more time and money.

The solution comprises a compact CIAT Floway Access AHU, incorporating a thermal wheel that operates with more than 80% efficiency, matched to a high efficiency Toshiba digital inverter condensing unit, in a single package that comes fully wired, charged with refrigerant and commissioned ready for installation.

“Demand for AHUs with integrated DX coils has been increasing,” said Paul Smith, sales director for TCUK Applied Products. “However, systems with components from different manufacturers can be difficult to configure. We solved this a couple of years ago with the launch of Floway DX, which seamlessly combines CIAT Floway with Toshiba’s highly energy efficient Digital Inverter Condenser in an integrated package.

“Now, with the launch of the skid-mounted version, installers have the additional benefit of being able to lift a single piece of equipment onto a roof in a single step, rather than having to manage and lift several separate items. As a result of its plug-and-play design, it can then be installed quickly and easily, and be in action rapidly. This saves even more time on site, while retaining all the benefits of support from a single supplier.”

TCUK installs interconnecting pipework in pristine factory conditions and pressure tests every system before delivery to site, ensuring they arrive in perfect condition and operate properly. Controls are integrated into the package and come housed in a weather-proof enclosure.

For end users, the system delivers optimum levels of comfort, control and efficiency in a highly cost-effective package, backed by the combined technical experience of TCUK and its Toshiba and CIAT brands.

The airside and DX units are mounted on a strong galvanised steel frame which can be painted any RAL colour, enabling end users to match the unit to their corporate livery or blend in with buildings and the skyline.

Available in five sizes, the skid-mounted systems deliver air flows of up to 2.36m3/sec and come in capacities up to 46kW in reverse cycle cooling and heating.

“We believe the system opens up new opportunities for installers to deliver fast-track projects which are also highly cost-effective, while providing excellent efficiency and comfort conditions for building occupants,” said Paul Smith. “It delivers a win-win for all concerned.”
