Toshiba’s New SEIYA R-32 Split System

Toshiba has introduced SEIYA, a new range of ultra-quiet high-wall split air conditioning systems running on lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) R-32 refrigerant.

Based on Toshiba’s pioneering inverter driven twin-rotary compressor for the 7kW condensing unit and single-rotary compressor for smaller capacities, the heat pump-based units deliver energy efficient cooling and heating all-year-round, with a European Efficiency Rating of A++ for cooling across the range.

“SEIYA’s performance-to-price ratio makes it an outstanding and cost-effective solution for residential and small commercial applications requiring superior comfort levels and low noise operation,” said Neil Hitching, sales director, Toshiba. “With demand for air conditioning expanding in this sector, we believe the product will be highly attractive for home-owners and small businesses, such as restaurants, shops, dental surgeries, home-workers’ offices, and hairdressing and beauty salons.

SEIYA units have a “silent” function that cuts the sound level of the outdoor unit in half, overcoming disturbance to neighbours at night, while its “quiet” function reduces sound output from the indoor unit to a whisper quiet 19dB(A), enabling occupants to sleep undisturbed while continuing to enjoy a comfortable indoor climate.

The highly reliable inverter-driven Toshiba rotary compressor constantly matches cooling and heating output to the current load, minimising temperature fluctuations to ensure comfortable conditions and minimise energy use and running costs.

An intuitive, easy-to-use optional app enables the system to be controlled from anywhere – while on the move or away from home – via a smart phone or other digital device, allowing users to pre-cool or warm their home or workspace remotely, in advance of their return.

SEIYA is designed with a number of features to maintain cleanliness and healthy operation. It is equipped with Toshiba’s Magic Coil that helps prevent water and dust from adhering to the heat exchange surface. In addition, when the unit is switched off, the fan continues to operate, keeping the coil clean and dry and maintaining the air conditioning’s high energy efficiency.

SEIYA has a Seasonal European Efficiency Rating (SEER) of up to 6.3 and a Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) of 4.0, and is available in seven sizes, spanning capacities from 1.5 to 6.5 kW (Cooling) 2.0 to 7.0 kW (Heating).
