Trane adds L-STORE compact cold storage

Trane has expanded its industrial cooling portfolio with L-STORE, a compact plug-and-play cold storage container. The unit, first introduced within Trane Rental Services, is now available for direct purchase through the company’s sales network. Trane said the product is designed for businesses that need small-scale temperature-controlled storage without conventional cold room construction.

The L-STORE requires a standard electrical connection for deployment and commissioning. Trane said its compact, self-contained layout typically does not require building permits. The company said the unit is intended for food and beverage operations, event applications, and sectors including pharmaceuticals, chemicals, hospitality and retail.

Each L-STORE uses a Thermo King VX-Series refrigeration unit and is designed for cooling down to a set point of –25°C (–13°F) in ambient conditions from –20°C to +45°C (–4°F to 113°F). The containers are manufactured in Europe with insulated panels, and an optional telematics package allows remote monitoring and management through a web interface or mobile app.

The product is available in two sizes: 2 m x 2 m x 2 m (about 6.6 ft x 6.6 ft x 6.6 ft) with a single-phase 230V/1ph/50-60Hz 16A connection, and 4 m x 2 m x 2 m (about 13.1 ft x 6.6 ft x 6.6 ft) with a three-phase 400V/3ph/50-60Hz 16A connection. Both models have a single door, thermal insulation, a silicone curtain, non-slip floor, internal lighting, a door opening sensor and an internal safety handle. Trane said the L-STORE can also be used alongside its freezing and deep cooling equipment, including the RTAF G Process chiller, which delivers chilled glycol down to –12°C (10.4°F).

“The L-STORE has already proved its value within our rental fleet across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Now we are giving our customers greater choice in how they scale their temperature-controlled capacity,” said Lauri Salmia, applied portfolio manager at Trane.
