Trane adds more models to its XStream Portfolio

Trane, a brand of Ingersoll Rand, is expanding its XStream portfolio and introducing new small capacity water-cooled chillers and water-to-water heat pumps. The new solutions come with three refrigerant options to satisfy sustainability and efficiency requirements of comfort and process cooling applications.

The new XStream RTWF products cover lower capacities between 340 and 920 kilowatts (kW) and include models designed with low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants R-513A and R-1234ze. The use of the less than 1 GWP R-1234ze refrigerant makes the XSTREAM RTWF unit capable of delivering heating capacity up to 80 degrees Celsius. This makes it an ideal alternative for conventional, fossil-fuelled heating systems and delivers a safe and sustainable cooling and heating solution.

With the new additions to the portfolio, the XStream screw chillers and heat pumps offer customers versatile, efficient and sustainable options within capacities from 340 kW to 3700 kW, the largest capacity coverage available on the market.

“The diversity of the Trane XStream portfolio offers our customers unique and multiple choices that can satisfy their varied needs for extremely efficient and sustainable cooling and heating comfort and process applications,” said Jose La Loggia, vice president and general manager of Trane in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Building owners looking ahead into the future and for a sustainable investment will be satisfied with the capacities and efficiencies achievable with Trane XStream technology combined with the flexibility of multiple refrigerant options.”

The design features of the XStream chillers and heat pumps make them suited for critical indoor environments such as a data centers, hospital, large office building or industrial process applications. The solutions deliver optimum efficiency with minimal refrigerant charge at no concession on reliability and feature:
  • Industry-leading efficient heat exchangers
  • Patented low charge Trane CHIL evaporator design
  • Both Screw and high speed centrifugal compressors with Oil-free magnetic bearings
  • Full compatibility with the use of variable flow for reduced power use and enhanced system efficiency.
  • Trane Adaptive Control with patented industry leading algorithms and multiple diagnostic capabilities.

The Trane XStream products featuring low GWP refrigerant are part of the Ingersoll Rand EcoWise portfolio of products designed to lower environmental impact with next-generation, low-GWP refrigerants and high-efficiency operation.
