YORK Unveils New Vertical Air Handler for Sustainable Data Centers

Johnson Controls has announced the launch of the YORK Mission Critical Vertical Computer Room Air Handler (MCV CRAH), designed to address the growing need for sustainable solutions in the rapidly expanding data center sector.

Data centers, key areas of new construction globally, demand efficient and sustainable operations. The MCV CRAH was developed in collaboration with data center operators to meet these needs, reducing HVAC energy use - which can account for up to 40% of a data center's total energy consumption.

Merle Brubaker, director of air handling systems at Johnson Controls, emphasized the importance of flexible and efficient solutions to keep pace with the industry's quick changes.

The YORK MCV CRAH offers a vertical downflow design, compact footprint, and multiple cooling capacities. High-efficiency EC motors, plenum fans, and low heat-dissipation cabinets help lower PUE values. With electrical options supporting 30kW-60kW power outputs, the unit supports phased expansion of data centers.

Rapid manufacturing and installation are backed by short lead times from dual North American laboratories, ensuring faster market entry. Features like an intuitive touchscreen HMI and easy maintenance access enhance reliability and streamline operations.
