ATMO Europe 2025 Adds Data Center Cooling and Expands PFAS Focus

ATMOsphere has announced the program highlights for its 15th ATMO Europe Summit, set to take place on November 24–25, 2025, in Padova, Italy. The two-day conference will feature sessions on HVAC&R market trends, case studies, investor engagement, and a continued focus on PFAS regulations. For the first time, the event will include a dedicated session on sustainable data center cooling.

The 2025 edition will broaden its scope to include refrigerant-free solutions such as caloric cooling, alongside natural refrigerant technologies. According to Jan Dusek, COO of ATMOsphere, this expansion reflects a commitment to exploring emerging technologies that help avoid the environmental and health risks associated with fluorinated refrigerants like HFCs and HFOs.

The program will include case studies across refrigeration, commercial HVAC, and industrial heat pumps. Additional highlights include a PFAS workshop, a training and certification panel, and networking opportunities such as site visits to CAREL’s Knowledge Center (November 23) and SCM Frigo’s manufacturing site (November 25).

Responding to the growth of the data center sector, ATMO Europe will debut a session focused on regulatory trends, market developments, and best practices in natural and free-cooling solutions for data centers. This session coincides with ATMOsphere’s upcoming report on data center cooling, due for release in mid-November.

The summit will also host a panel on caloric cooling, an approach using solid-state materials to produce cooling effects. Startups, including Magnotherm, will present field test results demonstrating improvements in commercial refrigeration using refrigerant-free technologies.

Building on last year’s success, the investor panel returns in 2025 with private equity firm Triton presenting updates on its natural refrigerant and acquisition strategy. Representatives from Triton’s portfolio companies Kelvion and bluu unit will also participate.

PFAS will remain a major theme, with two sessions covering regulatory updates, scientific findings on TFA, and legal cases involving legacy PFAS pollution. Speakers will include Cristina Guarda, Member of the European Parliament; Audun Heggelund of the Norwegian Environment Agency; Adam Aucock of the Environmental Investigation Agency; and Malene Teller Blume of Coop Trading.

The event will feature end-user case studies highlighting CO2-based air-handling units and hydrocarbon heat pumps and chillers, including single air-cooled systems with capacities exceeding 1MW (284TR). Presentations will include input from companies such as METRO, Ingka Group, Coop Trading, Auchan, and Birreria Pedavena.
