FAPRO-ETP Opens Free CO2 and R-290 Training in Brazil

FAPRO-ETP will offer a new round of free training on the safe and efficient use of CO2 and R-290 in commercial refrigeration systems from August to November 2026. The course is open to refrigeration technicians from across Brazil and will be held at the school’s natural refrigerant laboratory in Paraná.

The laboratory, inaugurated in June 2025, is structured as a “mini supermarket” operating with CO2 and R-290. The refrigerants combine energy efficiency with zero ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential, according to the source.

FAPRO-ETP plans to train 96 participants in six classes of up to 16 students each. Four full-time classes will run from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., while two evening classes will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and include one Saturday to complete the 40-hour program. The course comprises 30% theory and 70% practical work.

The training forms part of Stage III of the Brazilian HCFC Phase-out Programme, coordinated by Brazil’s Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change. During Stage II, the school trained 183 refrigeration professionals. Project implementation is carried out by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

“The school’s teaching staff, which was very well trained by the project, will deliver the classes. In addition to the well-equipped laboratory, we have teaching materials developed with the support of international specialists,” said Stefanie von Heinemann, GIZ consultant and project manager.

The classes are scheduled for August 3–14, August 31–September 4, September 28–October 2, October 19–30, November 9–13 and November 23–27. Registration by email at laboratorio.propano.faproetp@gmail.com.
