On 24th September 2020, a new fundamental chapter was written in the history of refrigeration, when the first ever General Assembly of the newly founded Pan-African Union of Associations of African Actors in Refrigeration and air-Conditioning took place.
Taking inspiration from the European model of AREA (the European Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association, chaired by Mr Marco Buoni) and also thanks to its support, Mr Madi Sakandé, the first President of U-3ARC and expert trainer for Centro Studi Galileo, reached the incredible goal of bringing together 29 national associations, all coming from different African countries; this ambitious project will guarantee fruitful future perspectives to the growth of the RAC sector in the continent, with positive consequences on health and living standards for its citizens.
The General Assembly, lasting a total of two days, involved in-person and on-line participation, following international regulations and safeguarding everyone’s health, in sight of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Many relevant HVAC/R experts worldwide, key persons in the international industry scenes since years, have taken part in the event: Marco Buoni, AREA President; Ayman Eltalouny and Yamar Guissé, UNEP; Ole Nielsen, UNIDO; Stephen Gill, World Refrigeration Day founder; Paul Robert Tiendrebeogo, Bachir Ismael Quedraogo, Harouna Kabore and Bassiere Batio Nestor, Ministries of Burkina Faso’ Government - Madi Sakandé’s home country and the first nation to actively join the project.
