GIZ Hosts International Negotiation Skills Training in Bangkok
From June 24th to June 26th, 13 ministry representatives from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam gathered in Bangkok for a skills training organized by GIZ to enhance their international negotiation techniques.

The training aimed to prepare participants for future international negotiations by focusing on essential negotiation factors, role plays, and simulations. The diverse group benefited from insights on cultural aspects in negotiations, enabling practical application of these strategies during the training.

Mr. Bernhard Siegele, head of the Proklima Cluster, concluded the session by sharing his extensive experience with the Montreal Protocol negotiations. The training addressed the strategic, financial, and technical barriers that developing and emerging countries often face in multilateral negotiations.

The Green Cooling Initiative III provided this training to help participants advance national interests, secure new financing sources, and fulfill commitments under the Montreal Protocol. Enhanced negotiation skills are crucial for effectively engaging national stakeholders in policy development and implementation.

Participants were expected to apply their new skills at the OEWG46, which took place shortly after the training.
