Eighteen air conditioning and refrigeration (RAC) technicians attended a specialized Cool Training in Songkhla province, Thailand, focused on handling the natural refrigerant R290.
During the intensive three-day course, participants learned to safely install R290 (propane) air conditioners through a combination of theoretical lessons and hands-on practical training. The training took place at the Department for Skills Development (DSD) training center, aiming to upgrade technicians' skills for maintaining and installing ACs using natural refrigerants.
This training is part of an ongoing series provided by the Green Cooling Initiative III in collaboration with DSD. The initiative aims to prepare technicians for evolving job requirements, helping Thailand meet its National Determined Contributions (NDCs) in the RAC sector, which plays a significant role in climate change mitigation.
By specializing in natural refrigerants, these technicians can secure new job opportunities while contributing to climate protection and ozone layer preservation.
