The 19th “Moon-Tech Cup” National HVAC Student Technology Competition (South China Final) concluded on June 29 at Guangdong University of Technology. The event brought together industry experts and academics to observe student teams demonstrate their skills in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technologies.
Organized by the China Association of Refrigeration (CAR), with support from the Energy and Power Engineering Teaching Steering Committee and the Building Environment and Energy Engineering Sub-Committee under the Ministry of Education, the competition also received backing from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Moon-Tech served as co-organizer, and Guangdong University of Technology hosted the event.
Seventeen universities from Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, and Fujian participated. Students competed in multiple formats, including hands-on demonstrations, design presentations, and quizzes. The event aimed to promote academic innovation and practical training for future HVAC professionals.
Guangdong University of Technology won the Grand Prize in the Graduate Division, along with two First Prizes and five Second Prizes. In the Undergraduate Comprehensive Division, Dongguan University of Technology and Fujian University of Technology each won a Grand Prize. Four First Prizes and eleven Second Prizes were also awarded.
Moon-Tech offered internship invitations to all graduate finalists and undergraduate Grand Prize winners. The internships, hosted at Moon-Tech’s headquarters in Yantai, include technical lectures, site visits, and team-building activities.
As part of the competition, an online voting campaign titled “Innovation Design & Team Showcase for South China Final” attracted 32 undergraduate teams and over 89,000 votes between June 20 and 26.
At the closing ceremony, Mr. Yang Xiaofan, Party Secretary of the School of Materials and Energy at Guangdong University of Technology; Mr. Bai Junwen, Secretary-General of CAR; and Mr. Chen Wenqing, CTO of Moon-Tech, addressed the participants. They praised the competition’s outcomes and expressed expectations for future talent and innovation in the HVAC field.
