Thermo King presents electric TRUs and fleet tech at Anaheim’s ACT Expo.
Thermo King, a brand of Trane Technologies, unveiled its latest range of electrified and connected transport refrigeration solutions at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo held April 28–May 1 in Anaheim, California. The company’s display emphasized emissions reduction, digital fleet management, and service lifecycle optimization for transport refrigeration units (TRUs).
Product Overview
Among the featured products, Thermo King announced plans to bring the A-500e, an engineless all-electric trailer TRU currently in use in Europe, to the North American market. The company also highlighted the Precedent S-750i, a hybrid-electric trailer TRU focused on lowering fuel consumption and emissions.
For small- and mid-size delivery vehicles, the all-electric e200 and e300 models were showcased, covering Class 1–4 and Class 2–4 trucks, respectively. The e1000, a zero-emission solution designed for Class 5–7 trucks, was also on display. Thermo King’s TriPac Envidia electric auxiliary power unit (APU) was presented as a zero-emission driver comfort option for long-haul trucks.
Connectivity and Lifecycle Services
Thermo King’s telematics portfolio, including TracKing, TracKing Pro, and TracKing Smart Trailer, was emphasized for its ability to deliver real-time fleet data to improve operational efficiency and asset management. These tools are designed to support smarter decision-making through advanced monitoring and analytics.
The company also promoted its Life Cycle Services, a set of support solutions aimed at optimizing fleet uptime and performance through data-driven service strategies and a robust dealer network.
Collaborations and Expert Insights
Thermo King is scaling its electric trailer offerings through partnerships, including a collaboration with Range Energy. Building on a 2024 integration of Thermo King TRUs with Range’s eTrailer System, the companies plan to expand joint efforts in sales, installation, and service support via Thermo King’s dealer network.
During the event, Dominic Hand, Thermo King’s vice president of digital, participated in a session titled “Smarter Trailers, Smarter Operations,” discussing the role of digital tools in fleet management.
“Thermo King is driving the future of fleet technology,” said Adam Wittwer, president at Thermo King Americas. “Our focus is on giving fleets the tools they need to meet their sustainability goals head-on, helping them run greener, smarter and more efficiently. ACT Expo continues to give us a powerful platform to showcase this.”
