STULZ launches TelAir 4 and WallAir 4 cooling units for 5G and edge

Both series use R454C, integrated free cooling and EN 378-compliant A2L safety systems, with capacities from 6 to 17 kW.

STULZ launches TelAir 4 and WallAir 4 cooling units for 5G and edge

STULZ has introduced the fourth generation of its TelAir and WallAir cooling series for 5G, edge and critical infrastructure applications. TelAir 4 and WallAir 4 use low-GWP R454C refrigerant, integrated free cooling and an EN 378-compliant safety architecture, addressing requirements under the amended European F-Gas Regulation (EU) 2024/573.

TelAir 4 is designed for indoor installation, while WallAir 4 can be mounted externally on a container wall as a monoblock solution. Both are offered in two standard enclosure sizes and four cooling capacity classes from 6-17 kW (approx. 20,500-58,000 BTU/h), for applications including telecommunications containers, shelters, radio stations and edge data centers.

In combined free cooling and mixed-mode operation, the units can reduce operating costs by up to 80%. EC fans comply with requirements of the upcoming ErP 2027 Ecodesign Directive. Both series operate from -20°C to +54°C (-4°F to 129°F), with an optional winter kit extending operation to -40°C (-40°F).

Customers can select on/off TF/WF systems with thermostatic expansion valves or TV/WV versions with continuously modulating EC inverter compressors and electronic expansion valves. Both configurations have hermetically sealed refrigeration circuits. The EN 378-compliant safety architecture for A2L refrigerants uses a two-stage sensor system: at 10% of the lower flammability limit, maximum fan speed is activated and other power consumers are shut down; at 20% LFL, the unit is fully disconnected from the power supply.

TelAir 4 supports downflow and displacement airflow concepts, while WallAir 4 uses displacement airflow. The E² BASIC controller includes Ethernet, Modbus, inputs and outputs for building management and DCIM integration, password-protected access levels, and dedicated inputs for fire, smoke and intrusion alarms.
