Viessmann Introduces Vitocal 300-G Heat Pump with R290 and Smart Controls

Viessmann Climate Solutions has introduced the Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy (ie), an indoor ground source heat pump using natural refrigerant R290 (propane). The new model offers heating outputs from 6 to 16 kW and incorporates the Viessmann One Base Intelligence control platform. Designed for residential new construction, modernization and system replacement, it features an integrated active safety system as standard.

The Vitocal 300-G ie achieves an A+++ energy efficiency rating, seasonal space heating energy efficiency of up to 212%, and a seasonal coefficient of performance (SCOP) of up to 5.5 in low-temperature applications. Its maximum supply temperature reaches 70°C (158°F), while the 6 kW (approximately 20,500 BTU/h) model has an ErP sound power level of 34 dB(A). Optional factory-integrated Natural Cooling components can reduce indoor temperatures by up to 3°C (5.4°F) using ground temperatures.

The One Base Intelligence platform connects system components and supports the integration of third-party products through Viessmann Energy Management. The ViGuide platform enables commissioning, remote monitoring and diagnostics, while the ViCare app provides access to temperature settings, energy consumption and system status. Energy Management coordinates electricity, heating and electric mobility, incorporating weather forecasts and dynamic electricity rates.

The heat pump supports standalone installation or cascade configurations of up to four units, delivering a combined output of up to 64 kW (approximately 218,400 BTU/h) with a single Universal Controller. Existing geothermal boreholes can be reused when replacing ground source heat pumps. The system also supports PVT collectors as an alternative heat source that simultaneously generates household electricity.

The floor-standing unit occupies 0.5 m² (approximately 5.4 sq ft) and features a removable heat pump module with plug-in couplings and electrical connectors for installation and servicing. Configuration options include Universal Controller, IDU Modular and IDU Comfort, alongside connection kits and air duct systems.

The Vitocal 300-G intelligent energy is available to order as of November 2, 2026, with deliveries scheduled to begin November 30, 2026. Viessmann Climate Solutions is part of Carrier Global Corporation.
