Americold Realty Trust has released its
2025 Sustainability Report, outlining progress in emissions reduction, energy efficiency, safety performance and facility resilience across its global cold storage network. The company said the results reflect disciplined operations, engineering-led execution and targeted capital investment aimed at supporting reliable temperature-controlled logistics.
According to the report, Americold reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 21.0% from its 2021 baseline in 2025. It also generated 30,822 MWh of renewable energy, while 46 facilities sourced 100% carbon-free electricity.
Americold said it invested more than $23 million in energy efficiency and facility improvement initiatives, including LED lighting upgrades, automated refrigeration controls and energy-optimization projects. The company also completed 912 Energy Waste Walks and reported a 24.4% waste diversion rate, exceeding its internal targets.
The company said more than 90% of its facilities now capture real-time utility data, which it uses to support targeted efficiency improvements and performance tracking across regions. Americold also reported that its Total Recordable Incident Rate, Days Away, Restricted or Transferred rate, and Lost Time Incident Rate were each more than 40% below U.S. refrigerated warehousing industry averages.
In benchmarking and reporting, Americold said it was recognized in 2025 as a GRESB Sector Leader for the Americas in the Industrial – Standing Investments category. The report references GRI, SASB, TCFD and ISSB IFRS S2 frameworks and includes independently assured environmental data.
“Reliability and efficiency are core to how we design and operate our facilities,” said Brian Dunn, Senior Vice President, Facilities & Engineering. “Our engineering teams are constantly analyzing where performance and sustainability intersect – optimizing refrigeration, deploying automation, and maintaining energy discipline in environments that must operate safely and continuously, 24/7.”
