Constellation Cold Logistics has announced the acquisition of CGI Coldstores, enhancing its presence in Ireland’s cold storage market. This strategic move strengthens Constellation’s operations in Dublin and Cork, boosting service offerings for its clientele.
Founded in 1998, CGI Coldstores operates facilities in Dublin and Cork with a storage capacity of 40,000 pallet positions and advanced freezing capabilities. The acquisition supports Constellation’s export operations via Ireland’s main ports, providing enhanced service and storage capacity.
Thomas Hughes, Constellation’s Managing Director for UK & Ireland, emphasized the acquisition as a chance to expand capacity in strategic locations. “This expansion will support export operations through Ireland’s major ports, providing our clients with enhanced service and storage capacity,” said Hughes.
Padraig O’Connell, Managing Director of CGI, remarked on the benefits of joining Constellation's extensive European network, anticipating operational efficiencies in distributing Irish produce.
As a major player in European cold storage, Constellation operates in eight countries with over 1 million pallet positions, part of the EQT portfolio, managing €246 billion in assets.
