The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) has announced the return of its First Penguin Leadership Program for a second year, continuing its focus on developing future leaders in the frozen and refrigerated foods sector.
The program, launched to meet a growing demand for structured leadership development across the industry, offers a yearlong experience that enhances strategic thinking, collaboration, and cross-sector understanding among emerging professionals in dairy and frozen foods.
Named after the “First Penguin” concept—symbolizing individuals willing to lead in uncharted territory—the initiative targets participants who show leadership potential, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to advancing the category.
The program includes executive-level discussions, collaborative workshops, industry immersions, and capstone group case studies, with final presentations held during the NFRA Convention.
“The First Penguin Leadership Program is about investing in the people who will lead this industry forward,” said Tricia Greyshock, President and CEO of NFRA. “The inaugural class reinforced the importance of creating space for emerging leaders to think strategically, challenge assumptions, and build the relationships that will shape the future of frozen and refrigerated foods.”
NFRA has announced the 2026 cohort of the program, consisting of 32 professionals from companies including Mars Ice Cream, Ajinomoto Foods North America, The Coca-Cola Company, Nestlé USA, Kraft Heinz, and Chobani.
Participants from the inaugural year highlighted the value of the program in building industry knowledge, expanding professional networks, and increasing confidence. “The First Penguin program has been one of the most impactful experiences of my personal and professional career,” said Daniel Menkens, Senior National Business Manager at RecorGroup.
By continuing the First Penguin Leadership Program, NFRA aims to support leadership readiness and foster the relationships that will drive the frozen and refrigerated foods industry forward.
