Oakland International expands UK frozen capacity with cold store

Oakland International has announced construction of a new 6,000-pallet frozen cold store at its Bardon site, increasing the company’s total frozen capacity across its network by approximately 30%.

The company said the investment supports long-term customer growth and expands value-added services, including tempering solutions, as requirements continue to evolve across retail and food supply chains.

The project is intended to provide scalable, strategically located storage for current volumes and future expansion. Oakland International said the Bardon site will support a single-depot, multi-temperature solution combining frozen, chilled and ambient services.

The company said bringing these services together at one location can reduce complexity, streamline handling and support faster, more cost-effective distribution, particularly for customers supplying major retailers.

The investment is part of Oakland International’s long-term plan to develop Bardon into a fully integrated, multi-temperature logistics hub offering end-to-end supply chain services from a single location.

Regional Director Jamie Robinson said: “This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to our customers and to building infrastructure that delivers resilience, flexibility and real operational value. Expanding frozen capacity at Bardon is a major step in strengthening our network and future proofing our service offering.”
