Schmitz Cargobull expands its expertise center and production facilities in Vreden

At its Vreden site, Schmitz Cargobull employs around 2,000 people dedicated to producing refrigerated box body semi-trailers for temperature-controlled transport and dry freight, as well as Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport cooling units. The factory in Vreden has been lauded for its innovative ideas and production processes, receiving multiple awards for its impressive products.

Significant investments are currently being made to expand the Vreden facility’s capacities. The goal is to develop a digital, automated factory that upholds high quality standards while offering a diverse range of variants to maximize capacity utilization. A new assembly hall spanning 4,500 square meters is being constructed with automated production systems. This expansion will enable Schmitz Cargobull to produce up to 80 refrigerated vehicles per day in a two-shift model. Additionally, the company is investing in the “Cargobull Event Campus,” a venue for events and training located next to the company's premises.

Just two kilometers from the main production facilities, Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport cooling units are manufactured at the Vreden-Gaxel site. Cargobull Cool GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of Schmitz Cargobull AG founded in 2012, employs around 100 people who develop, test, and produce conventional and electric transport cooling units for Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated vehicles. More than 20% of Schmitz Cargobull’s S.KO.COOL refrigerated vehicles are delivered with the Schmitz Cargobull S.CU transport cooling unit.
