Copeland acquires Dickson to expand US cold chain monitoring

Copeland has completed the acquisition of Dickson, a US provider of environmental monitoring and compliance technology for regulated life sciences and healthcare environments. The transaction combines Dickson’s cloud-native monitoring platform with Copeland’s controls, monitoring and enterprise software solutions for the cold chain.

The combined technologies support temperature monitoring in biotechnology manufacturing, pharmaceutical distribution, healthcare, retail pharmacy and medical device environments. They are intended to provide visibility into environmental conditions from production and storage through transportation and delivery.

Copeland said the combination will provide actionable insights to help customers identify and address issues early and protect food, pharmaceutical and other temperature-sensitive products throughout the supply chain.

“The acquisition of Dickson further strengthens our ability to serve customers across every stage of the healthcare and life sciences cold chain, from pharmaceutical manufacturing through distribution and patient care,” said Ross B. Shuster, CEO of Copeland.

“Our customers operate in highly regulated environments where precision, compliance and visibility are essential,” said Rick Weiler, President and CEO of Dickson. “By joining Copeland, we are bringing together complementary technologies and expertise that support the monitoring and protection of temperature-sensitive products across increasingly complex supply chains.”

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Case Study – Effect of Louvers or diffusers on air flow distribution and cooling time on a meat log during Chill cycle

By Kushal Aurangabadkar An experimental analysis was conducted on a cooler space measuring 3.66 m × 6.096 m (12.0 ft × 20.0 ft), equipped with an ammonia refrigeration coil, five 30 cm (12 in.) fans, and five diffusers. The study measured airflow patterns, cooling rates, and heat transfer efficiency in meat storage by testing two configurations:

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Modular Refrigeration Systems in Life Sciences Distribution Centers

by Ramez Naguib, P.E. Introduction Life sciences distribution centers are under immense pressure to deliver consistent temperature control, comply with increasingly stringent regulations, and optimize operational efficiency. Traditional built-up refrigeration systems often prove cumbersome, costly, and slow to implement. In contrast, modular, factory-assembled refrigeration systems have emerged as a compelling alternative. Drawing on lessons from
