Danfoss Scrolls Compressors with IDV Technology

Danfoss extensive range of compressors now includes Danfoss Scrolls with Intermediate Discharge Valve (IDV) technology to offer functional benefits and savings throughout the lifecycle of the systems from development and operating costs to servicing and maintenance.

Driven by the global need to reduce CO2 emissions, new legislations around the world are demanding air conditioning systems with higher energy efficiency as well as lower GWP refrigerants. Danfoss extensive range of compressors now includes Danfoss Scrolls with Intermediate Discharge Valve (IDV) technology to offer functional benefits and savings throughout the life cycle of the systems from development and operating costs to servicing and maintenance.

New Danfoss scroll compressors with IDVs– Intermediate Discharge Valves – are released gradually from September 2016 until the end of 2016 in cooling capacities from 7.5 to 40 tons. They offer new features that deliver the most cost-effective solution for the next generation of rooftop units and chillers with R410A. They will also be qualified with lower GWP refrigerants by the end of 2017 to fullfil the expectations of the transition to alternative refrigerants.

Why IDV?
IDV technology allows the compressor to avoid over-compression losses and, thus, extra work by the motor during part-load operation—enabling Danfoss Scrolls DSH and DCJ to save energy and improve seasonal / part-load efficiency from 3 to 10 percent in standard configurations.

Why choose Danfoss Scrolls DSH and DCJ?
“Danfoss Scrolls with IDV technology are backward compatible with the existing Danfoss HCJ, SH ranges, leading to minimal redesign and costs”, says Luigi Zamana, Senior Marketing Director Danfoss Commercial Compressors. “Leveraging Danfoss’ experience with rooftop, chiller and large split applications, Danfoss Scroll Compressors with IDVs feature an extended operating map, improved liquid handling capability, and a patented, more robust oil management method in manifolding applications”, he adds.

Danfoss scrolls with IDVS: Major Benefits

  • Deliver higher part-load efficiency by design
  • Backward compatibility reduces complexity and redesign costs
  • Extended operating map allows for broader use in demanding applications, e.g. IT cooling, reversible systems, process cooling, heat recovery.
  • Additional manifold combinations allow for increased design flexibility
  • A new level of compressor robustness and system reliability
