ASHRAE has installed Sarah E. Maston, P.E., BCxP, LEED AP as its 2026–27 Society president during the 2026 Annual Conference in Texas, US. The organization also announced newly elected officers, vice presidents, regional directors and directors-at-large.
Maston introduced the theme “Changing the Game: Retrofitting for Resilience.” It focuses on cooperation across the building industry to improve the efficiency, performance and resilience of existing buildings amid climate and infrastructure challenges.
ASHRAE said its priorities for the year include increasing awareness of building codes and their role in resilience, supporting cross-functional teams to improve building operations, and using gamification in education. Maston is Geographic Discipline Leader for Commissioning & Energy Services in New England at Colliers Project Leader.
Ashish Rakheja, Director and Chief Operating Officer at AEON in Uttar Pradesh, India, was elected president-elect. Wade H. Conlan, Assistant Vice President and Commissioning & Energy Discipline Manager at Hanson Professional Services in Florida, was elected treasurer. Both will serve one-year terms.
Mahroo Eftekhari of Loughborough University in England and Blake E. Ellis of Burns & McDonnell in Kansas were appointed vice presidents for two-year terms. ASHRAE also named regional directors and chairs for Regions VII, VIII, IX, X and XIV, along with directors-at-large Martin Dieryckx, Krishnan Gowri and Filza H. Walters.
“There is no one-size-fits-all solution or game plan for retrofitting buildings. Every building has its own constraints. That’s why teamwork is absolutely essential,” Maston said.
