BITZER Mourns Passing of Christiane Schaufler-Münch at 90

Christiane Schaufler-Münch, long-standing figure of the BITZER Group and Chairwoman of THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION, has passed away at the age of 90. Her death marks the end of an era for the refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump specialist, with her shares now transferred to the foundation to maintain BITZER’s independence.

After the death of her husband, Senator h. c. Peter Schaufler, in 2015, Schaufler-Münch took over key leadership roles, including Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of BITZER SE. She shaped the company culture with a leadership style marked by modesty, warmth, and a strong presence. In August 2024, she handed over this role to Dr. Martin Brudermüller, who now also assumes the chairmanship of THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION.

"Mrs. Schaufler-Münch was a unique and impressive personality who, like her husband, significantly shaped the culture of our company," said Christian Wehrle, CEO of the BITZER Group. "We are all deeply affected by the loss and at the same time very grateful for what Mrs. Schaufler-Münch has done for all of us, for the company BITZER and also for society."

Wehrle was reappointed as CEO until the end of 2028, ensuring leadership continuity alongside the foundation's stewardship. THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION, established in 2005, continues to support scientific advancement in HVACR through scholarships and professorships.

Beyond industry, Christiane and Peter Schaufler were strong patrons of the arts. Since 2010, their SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen museum has displayed a collection of over 3,500 contemporary works. The museum remains a regional cultural landmark and will continue operating in their spirit.

The Schaufler family has held their farewell privately.
