CIAT HVAC Solution Ensures Optimal Comfort at Radisson RED Liverpool

CIAT Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Heat Recovery Units have been installed at Radisson RED Liverpool, marking the prestigious hotel chain's first location in northern England.

The hotel, situated in a Grade II-listed building originally known as Northern Western Hall, underwent extensive renovations to transform it back into a 10-storey hotel with 201 guest rooms and suites. The property combines historical significance with contemporary design, adding a unique element to Liverpool’s hospitality offerings.

To ensure optimal indoor air quality for guests and staff, the hotel chose CIAT’s HVAC solutions. Five CLIMACIAT Airaccess units from CIAT's flagship AHU range provide high-quality comfort and fresh air, with integrated heat recovery systems that reuse energy for ambient space heating and hot water production. These units cover all main areas of the hotel and operate exceptionally quietly to avoid disturbing guests.

Additionally, four CIATESA Heat Recovery Units provide filtered airflow and temperature and CO2 control for the basement meeting rooms. CIAT collaborated closely with building services engineering specialists to ensure timely and scheduled delivery of all equipment.

Simon Pearson, Area Chief Engineer at Radisson RED Liverpool, noted the importance of maintaining optimal comfort for guests and staff. The CIAT air handling units distribute a constant flow of clean air throughout the building, ensuring a healthy and comfortable environment. Their quiet operation enhances the overall ambience of the hotel.

Dan Wood, Head of Sales for CIAT UK&I, highlighted the project's focus on improving indoor air quality and comfort levels. Due to site issues, storage and redelivery for the AHUs were organized to meet site requirements. One of the heat recovery units required a flat pack solution to fit into the basement.

The equipment is fully protected from the saline environment, as the hotel is situated near Liverpool Docks, where moist, salt-laden air could corrode metal surfaces. Each AHU was pre-built and mounted on a CIAT monobloc chassis to enable lifting as single pieces, saving time and overcoming road closure challenges during the project. The first crane lift, including three AHUs, took place overnight due to council restrictions on road closures during working hours.

The installation of CIAT’s HVAC solutions ensures that Radisson RED Liverpool provides a high-quality, comfortable, and healthy environment for both guests and staff.
