Daikin Industries Announces Appointment of Naofumi Takenaka as New Representative Director, President, and COO

Daikin Industries, Ltd., a recognized player in air conditioning and refrigeration technologies, announced the appointment of Naofumi Takenaka as the new Representative Director, President, and Chief Operating Officer (COO). This significant appointment was decided at the Board of Directors' meeting on May 9, 2024, and will officially take effect following approval at the 121st Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders scheduled for June 27, 2024.

Strategic Leadership Transition

In its centennial year, Daikin is undergoing a strategic transformation to enhance the speed and efficiency of decision-making and execution processes within the management structure. The reintroduction of the COO role underscores Daikin’s commitment to strengthen leadership amidst rapidly evolving market conditions and to further the company’s mission of contributing to a sustainable society.

Executive Movements

Alongside Mr. Takenaka's new role, Masanori Togawa, currently serving as President and CEO, will assume the position of Representative Director and Chairman of the Board. This move is designed to fortify governance and oversight across Daikin's global operations.

About Naofumi Takenaka

Naofumi Takenaka, born on January 31, 1964, joined Daikin Industries in April 1986 and has held various pivotal roles throughout his illustrious career. Prior to his new appointment, Mr. Takenaka served as Senior Executive Officer, overseeing Human Resources and General Affairs. His extensive experience includes significant positions in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and Business Strategy within the Air Conditioning Sales Division. Mr. Takenaka's leadership has been instrumental in shaping Daikin’s strategic initiatives and operational excellence.
