Daikin Supports TeamNL with Fresh Air at Olympic Games 2024

Daikin is set to support Team Netherlands (TeamNL) with top-tier, energy-efficient air conditioning during the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 in Paris, ensuring optimal conditions for peak performance.

Recognizing the importance of comfort and good sleep for athletes, the Dutch Olympic committee NOC*NSF has upgraded TeamNL’s hotel rooms with Daikin split air conditioning systems. These units provide fresh, high-quality air with minimal energy costs and environmental impact.

Paris is aiming to host the most climate-friendly Olympics ever and has not equipped Olympic accommodations with traditional air conditioning. However, Daikin Netherlands director Edwin Hoogerwerf pointed out the advancements in air conditioning technology, noting that modern systems are far from the outdated, noisy units typically associated with holiday destinations. Daikin’s systems are whisper-quiet, highly energy-efficient, and cost just one euro a day to run, providing ideal climate and air conditions for restful sleep.

Daikin brings over 100 years of innovation in creating comfortable and healthy indoor environments, a critical factor for TeamNL. Pieter van den Hoogenband, Chef de Mission for the Olympic Games, emphasized the importance of athlete well-being, noting that optimal sleep temperatures (18 to 20 degrees Celsius) are achievable with Daikin’s low-noise air conditioning systems.

Installed by Daikin partner VKB Klimaattechniek, the Daikin split air conditioning units also purify the air, with intelligent sensors to continuously monitor and adjust the indoor climate. Post-Games, the units will be repurposed for other projects, underscoring the sustainable approach.

The partnership between NOC*NSF and Daikin showcases how innovation and energy efficiency can enhance performance conditions. With Daikin’s advanced technology and commitment to sustainability, Dutch athletes will compete at the Summer Olympics under the best possible conditions, ready to excel and strive for gold.
