Decarbonisation and energy efficiency in geothermal heat pumps Frascold

Frascold - leading player in the development, production and marketing of semi-hermetic compressors at the service of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. The collaboration with Teon, a company engaged in the development, manufacture, and marketing of water-water heat pumps for the residential and industrial sectors, based on the R600a refrigerant which has a low environmental impact.

“In Teon, we believe that heat pumps, in particular the high-temperature ones, are the road to follow for the heating and cooling of the future,” declares Ferdinando Pozzani, CEO of Teon, who continues, “We are talking about a clean technology, without fossil fuels, which goes in the direction of energy autonomy. Installing a heat pump ensures savings that, as witnessed in numerous countries, amounts to around 50 to 70% of the costs in the energy bill, maximum reliability of the system and maintenance interventions reduced to the minimum. Open or closed geothermal heat pumps, like those offered by Teon, guarantee operation up to 80°C for heating and hot water production, under any climate condition, without losses in performance. In addition, since they extract most of the heat from natural sources, they are highly sustainable and do not produce any harmful emissions, to the benefit of people’s health and the environment. A range conceived in order to respond to all heating and cooling needs, from the residential sphere to the commercial and industrial ones. Lastly, our smart heating solutions are the only ones that are compatible with radiator systems, still present in the majority of buildings.”

Pozzani further explains: “Among the decisive elements in the creation of a quality heat pump, compressors stand out. That is why, for some years now, we have relied on Frascold, which has worked with us in creating our solutions. This collaboration has its origins in sharing the same guiding principles: Made in Italy excellence, reliability, sustainability, and commitment to innovation.” and he continues, “The constant dialogue with the team and the knowledge of being able to count on the know-how of the leading player in the market that offers ATEX certified compressors that are optimised for hydrocarbons is a great advantage both for us, as builders, and for the end customers. It allows us, in fact, to guarantee a very high degree of safety, because for us, safeguarding people is essential.”

Livio Calabrese, Sales Director of Frascold, states, “We immediately understood the potential of heat pumps. For this reason, for over 10 years we have been partners of technologically advanced companies, like Teon, offering a wide and constantly expanding range of ATEX semi-hermetic, piston and screw compressors, optimised for hydrocarbons.” and he continues, “Heat pumps are at the centre of international attention, the most recent example being #REPowerEU, the announced plan of the European Union that foresees, among the main actions, the necessity of doubling the installation rate of heat pumps in the next 5 years.” He concludes by saying, “Innovation makes it possible to have heat pumps available that can cover an even broader range of temperatures compared to the past and be able to efficiently meet all needs, from residential to industrial processes, even with very low outdoor temperatures. Given their reliability and high performance, our compressors are able to respond to the increasingly challenging requests, from multi-apartment systems, of approximately 10kW, up to the largest systems, like process applications or district heating with screw compressors, which reach several Megawatts of power”.
