After serving as Director General of the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) for 20 years, Didier Coulomb is passing the torch to Yosr Allouche. During his tenure, Coulomb has been instrumental in advancing the global recognition of the IIR, shaping it into a key player in the refrigeration industry.
In his farewell statement, Coulomb reflected on the progress made by the IIR and the journey ahead. "Over the last few years, the IIR has gradually gained well-deserved international recognition, thanks to the quality of the information it provides, the size of the network it feeds, and the growing awareness of the importance of refrigeration in the world, now and even more so in the future," he stated.
Coulomb's belief in the critical role of refrigeration was evident when he declared at the IIR's centenary in 2008 that "Refrigeration is life." He remains steadfast in this conviction and highlighted the ongoing mission to convince more countries and stakeholders of its importance. "Nowhere is the notion of ‘sustainable development’ more applicable than in the field of refrigeration," he asserted.
Looking to the future, Coulomb expressed confidence in his successor and the new team at the IIR. "I am counting on Yosr, on the new team that is being put in place at the IIR's head office and on all of you to continue and amplify the IIR's action for the good of humanity," he said. He emphasized a new strategy aimed at enhancing global outreach and service provision.
In conclusion, Coulomb extended his gratitude to the IIR community. "Thank you for all the work you have already done with us. I have sincerely appreciated the friendship that has resulted, and will treasure the memories. But there’s more to come, keep up the good work!"
As Coulomb steps down, his legacy paves the way for Yosr Allouche to lead the IIR into its next chapter, building on the momentum and vision he has helped to establish over the years.
