ebm-papst signs up to the United Nations Global Compact

ebm-papst Mulfingen GmbH & Co. KGaA & Co. KG has become an official signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. By joining the initiative voluntarily, the company said it is now part of a global community of businesses committed to responsible business practices.

The UN Global Compact calls on companies to align their activities and strategies with ten principles covering human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. It also asks companies to take measures to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact has grown into what it describes as the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. According to the source text, it includes more than 25,000 participating companies and 64 local networks.

“With our corporate purpose ‘Engineering a better life’, we have illustrated our goal of contributing to a better future. We take this very seriously, as we have been convinced since our founding that ecology and economy are not mutually exclusive. By joining the UN Global Compact, we are once again anchoring the issue of sustainability in our company and thus also sending a clear signal to the outside world,” said Harald Klaiber, CFO of the ebm-papst Group.
