EHPA letter: Ensuring the Polish heat pump sector can flourish

The Polish government is planning to phase out its recognition of the Heat Pump KEYMARK certification scheme. This would be a blow to the country’s heat pump industry and consumers.

KEYMARK guarantees the quality of the heat pumps it certifies and is used by over 150 brands. If it is no longer recognised in Poland, it would mean consumers choosing KEYMARK certified heat pumps are no longer eligible for financial support.

Poland can become a leader in heat pump manufacturing and reap the benefits in terms of jobs and the economy, but not recognising the widely used and highly valued KEYMARK scheme will increase costs and hinder trade.

This is why Patrick Crombez, president of the European Heat Pump Association, has written on behalf of EHPA to the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

The letter emphasises the importance of reliable heat pumps whose quality is guaranteed by a single certification across Europe. This will allow the local sector to continue growing to its full potential. Recognised and established schemes like the Heat Pump KEYMARK guarantee the timely delivery of high-quality, European-made heat pumps to Polish end-users. Having a wide choice of products whose quality is assured through widely recognised certificates is crucial.

In the same letter, EHPA invited the Polish authorities to communicate and exchange further, to ensure that reliable, trustworthy heat pumps, built in Europe, can be delivered on time to Polish consumers for their comfort and wellbeing.
